Dominika Cibulkova bio
Dominika Cibulkova was born in May 6th 1989, in Piestany, Czechoslovakia, now part of Slovakia.
The short (5′ 3” – 1m60) hot tennis player made it to the Roland Garros semifinals in 2009, where she beat in the quarter-finals Maria Sharapova 6-0 6-2, after being just a single point away from handing her a double bagel. She only lost one set en route to her defeat to the world number 1, the russian Dinara Safina, in the semi-finals of that edition of the French Open Grand Slam. About one month after that, Dominika Cibulkova reached her highest ranking of 12.
In 2011 she also had a fantastic campaign in the Wimbledon Championships, where she made it to the quarter-finals, beating the world number 1 Caroline Wozniacki for the second time in the year. She was beaten by another former WTA world number 1 Maria Sharapova in straight sets. Dominika Cibulkova is yet to win a WTA title, but she was runner-up for a couple of times in 2008. She lost to Maria Sharapova in Amelia Island and to Dinara Safina at the Canada Masters, Montreal.
