Iveta Benesova bio
Iveta Benesova was born on February 1st 1983 in Most, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic).
The left handed has won her first WTA singles title in Acapulco in 2004. In that tournament, she beat Flavia Pennetta in the final. She went titleless for a few years, until 2010, when she won a tournament in Fes after defeating Simona Halep in the final, although she had already won a few doubles titles, including one at that very same tournament.
Iveta Benesova has stayed firmly in the top-100 almost every year since 2002. Her best year was 2009, when she was number 25 in the WTA rankings, her best so far. 2011 has also been a great year, as she got to the fourth round of the Australian Open, her best Grand Slam result ever. She was also able to win the mixed doubles tournament at the Wimbledon Championships, partnering Jurgen Melzer.
Iveta Benesova is a very talented doubles player too. She has a total of 20 WTA finals, winning 12 titles so far. Her doubles partner as of late is Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova, with whom she has reached 11 finals and snapped 8 titles.
