At number 9, we have the serbian turned australian, Jelena Dokic!
Jelena Dokic bio
Jelena Dokic was born in Osijek on April 12th 1983. That’s part of Croatia now. Yugoslavia back then. She played for the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia at the height of her career. Then it was Serbia and Montenegro. And Serbia after that. Finally she naturalized herself australian and was embraced by the aussies, most notably during the 2009 edition of the Australian Open, Jelena Dokic‘s first Grand Slam tournament since 2003.
The talented all-rounder is one of the very few to have won WTA titles in all surfaces – red clay (Rome 2001), hard (Tokyo 2001), carpet (Moscow 2001), green clay (Sarasota 2002) and grass (Birmingham 2002). After these five titles, Jelena Dokic went titleless in WTA Tour tournaments for almost eight years, and following her final at the 2003 Zurich Open she never even made it toi a final again, until getting her sixth title at Kuala Lumpur in 2011.
Most of this hot tennis player’s career has been troubled by a rollercoaster of family problems (with her father), and yet she was once the number 4 in the world. As Barney Stinson from the How I Met Your Mother series would say…: “Hot chick with daddy issues”.
