Keeping in mind that Wimbledon is around the corner, we bring to you the world number 1’s opponent, Mandy Minella!
Mandy Minella bio
Mandy Minella comes from the small central-european country of Luxembourg. She was born in Esch-sur-Alzette on November 22nd 1985.
We finally decided to include her in our website, as she was drawn to face Serena Williams, the american superstar, on the very first round of the 2013 edition of the Wimbledon championships. Serena has odds of 1/500 to win the match. Serena is the defending and five-times champion while Mandy has never won a match played over grass in her entire career. On the plus side, we will surely be able to watch Mandy Minella on the television all over the world. Trivia for today: every state of the United States has more people than Luxembourg.
Minella’s best rankings as of the time of this writing are world number 66 in singles on September 17th 2012, and world number 47 in doubles on April 29th 2013. Minella has never won a WTA singles title, but she has won two doubles titles on the WTA circuit, as well as seven singles and five doubles titles on the ITF tour. Trivia for today part two: Mandy Minella has reached at least one final in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania. Only Antarctica missing!
Mandy Minella won in 2011 the award for Luxembourgish sportswoman of the year.
