Sorana Cirstea has solidified her place in the top-100 in both singles and doubles in the last few years. Her highest ranking in singles is 23 and her highest ranking in doubles is 35, both achieved in 2009.
Sorana Cirstea won her first WTA Tour singles title back in 2008, in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), beating Sabine Lisicki in the final. Her best result on the circuit came at the 2009 edition of the French Open, where she reached the quarter-finals, after beating number 21 Alize Cornet, number 10 caroline Wozniacki, and number 5 Jelena Jankovic. She eventually lost to Samantha Stosur.
Sorana Cirstea had a form decline since then, and she had to return to play at lower level tournaments from the ITF circuit to try to regain a more prominent place at the rankings. She has recently had a few victories over better ranked players, which may show that her best days are coming back.
